Requirements and Description

The Baggage Handling Systems Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Direct and manage daily shift activities of all consortium employees.
  • Communicate & correspond with customer Supervisory teams.
  • Address customer daily operational needs and concerns.
  • Report any equipment problems to Airport Maintenance.
  • Suggest and communicate operational improvements to customers as needed on a daily basis.
  • Baggage handling from check-in to TSA screening hand-off may also include front-of-ticket-counter and post-screening assistance as needed.
  • Load baggage onto belt, transport via cart or other means and monitor baggage movement along inline system.
  • Ensure proper lifting techniques.
  • Maintain control of baggage throughout transport.
  • Transport baggage by other means as needed, in case of inline malfunction or other irregularity. 
  • Transport and monitor luggage from security screening to storage facility, appropriate inline belt, or storage personnel.
  • Ensure uncleared bags have proper TSA tags.
  • Maintain an adequate number of tubs in appropriate areas.
  • Maintain control of all assigned equipment (carts, dollies, cables, locks, etc.).
  • Respond to and clear all baggage system alarms.
  • Clear simple baggage jams.
  • Transport lost-in-tracking jammed bags to TSA ETD area for screening.
  • Assist with other duties as requested.
Qualifications: 
  • 3 years in a baggage handling system or airport conveyer maintenance supervisor role is required.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50lbs.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must possess a Government ID and social security card. 
  • Must be able to obtain and keep an airport security badge. 
  • Must have or be able to attain reliable transportation.
  • Able to work in extreme conditions, such as hot and cold weather, as well as small spaces
  • Able to receive appropriate security clearances after satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must be able to work extended hours depending on operational needs.
