Requirements and Description

Job Summary:  

The Safety Manager is responsible for the administration of the safety management program.  The Safety Manager monitors safety issues, provides safety education, investigates accidents and incidents, helps to develop loss control standards, and makes recommendations to improve safety in the workplace.

Job Duties:  

  • Ensures that safety program elements are carried out. Monitors corrective/preventive actions as necessary.
  • Review all hazards; receive all safety forms - feedback or reports evaluate with management. Makes recommendations to correct/prevent identified safety issues. Implementation corrective or preventative action as needed or required.
  • Monitors compliance with applicable regulatory safety standards. Provides regular reports to management on program status and compliance.
  • Monitors and enforces safe working habits in accordance with OSHA, TSA, DOT, FDA regulations, unifi/ERMC and Safety policies, and all applicable laws.
  • Monitor / review data from the reported issues for high-risk areas.
  • Review reoccurring risk(s). Adjust operational risk profile accordingly.
  • Review reported issues' performance, evaluate with management, and direct required action as advised.
  • Follow up / monitor / review all hazards (and or reports) as necessary. Implementation corrective action due to the severity or as required.
  • Mentor and work with leadership team to ensure processes are followed and expectations are met and drive culture change. When not, provide support to ensure failures are addressed appropriately. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.
 

Qualifications:  

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent education. 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be able to obtain credentials required as per airport or state or customs requirements. 
  • Supervisory experience is required. 
 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Two years of relevant work experience in the aviation or ground handling services industry. 
 

Physical requirements:  

  • Must be able to frequently push, pull, stoop, squat, kneel, bend, lift up to 70lbs and move up to 70lbs; and constantly walk, stand, handle, grasp and reach out. May have to reach above shoulder occasionally. 
 

Working conditions:  

  • You will need to have flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. We operate in a shift bid environment.  
  • Must be able to be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment. 
  • Enjoy the outdoors on a daily basis (sun, rain, sleet or snow!) May be exposed to a wide variety of weather conditions, jet and machinery noises, fumes, dirt and dust for extended periods.
